Real Betis overcame Barcelona 4-3 on their last visit to the Camp Nou in November 2018, although the Catalan giants hit back with a 4-1 victory in the return fixture in March.

The second weekend of La Liga marks the home opener for the two-time defending champions.  Barcelona continues to pursue the biggest transfer of the summer, while they also hope to get their captain and best player back to face a very difficult opponent, who showed last season that they can win at Camp Nou.

Last week’s defeat to Athletic Bilbao followed by injuries to Luis Suárez and Ousmane Dembélé brought cloudy skies to Barcelona, which didn’t look likely after a great preseason and plenty of optimism. Now Barça has to try and regroup and convince PSG to sell them Neymar, but on Sunday all that matters is a win. In what’s expected to be such a tight title race with the two Madrid giants, the Catalans cannot afford two bad results in a row.

To get their first win of the season, Barcelona will have to find a way to beat a very good Real Betis team that changed coaches and brought reinforcements over the summer, including World Cup winner Nabil Fekir. Betis won at Camp Nou, 4-3, last season, which was Barça’s only home loss in the entire title-winning campaign, which proves that Betis won’t be afraid of the occasion and promise to make things tough.
